About Leaf & Grain
Our Story
Leaf & Grain was started in Houston in 2016, but our story starts in 2006.
Our founder, Deets, was so passionate about restaurants in high school that his friends put “Owner of a Chain of Sandwich Shacks” for his “In 20 Years” section of their yearbook. The landscape shifted, but the restaurant dream remained.
In 2017, we opened the first L&G on the 4th floor of a 1970s downtown mall. For better or worse, we had lines out the door from day one, and for 2 years, we were constantly playing catch-up. In 2019, we finally hit our stride.
A few months later, the pandemic hit, and downtown emptied overnight.
We navigated COVID, and now we’re more committed than ever to making Leaf & Grain go the distance. We started with the mission of building Leaf & Grain into a 100-year company, and that guides our decision making. It’s a commitment to quality, to taking care of our team, and to always doing the right thing, even when it’s painful or costly.
