About Leaf & Grain
Our Story
Leaf & Grain was started in Houston in 2016, but our story starts in 2006.
In high school, our founder, Deets, was so passionate about wanting to own restaurants that his friends chose “Owner of a Chain of Sandwich Shacks” for the “In 20 Years” section of his yearbook. The landscape has shifted (we aren’t exactly a sandwich shack), but the restaurant dream remained.
In 2017, we opened the first L&G on the 4th floor of a 1970s downtown mall. For better or worse, we had lines out the door from day one, and for 2 years, we were constantly playing catch-up. In 2019, we finally hit our stride.
A few months later, the pandemic hit, and downtown emptied overnight.
We managed to navigate the COVID years, and now we’re more committed than ever to making Leaf & Grain go the distance. We started with the mission of building Leaf & Grain into a 100-year company, and that guides all of our decision making. It’s a commitment to quality, to taking care of our team, and to always doing the right thing, even when it’s painful or costly.
Welcome to our journey. We’re excited to serve you the highest quality food throughout whatever craziness lies ahead.

Our Mission
Leaf & Grain is a small, Houston-based restaurant company. We are dedicated to showing people that food can be tasty and filling, and still be good for you. There is no reason to compromise. We offer food that is both good for you and satisfying—it doesn’t make our menu if it doesn’t meet that second standard.
We want to make it easier for people to put the right things in their body, without feeling like they’re having to make a sacrifice.
We started with this mission and the goal of building Leaf & Grain into a 100-year company, and that guides all of our decision making. It’s a commitment to quality, to taking care of our team, and to always doing the right thing, even when it’s painful or costly.
We know you’ll like it.
